Tim Iroegbunam was labelled ‘the main man’ by Liverpool youngster James Balagizi on Instagram after the Aston Villa midfielder scored his first international goal for England U20s.

Ian Foster’s side recorded a 2-1 win over Morocco with Iroegbunam, who has been loaned out to QPR this season, continuing his fine form this season.

After scoring for England U20s, Iroegbunam expressed his delight on social media, with several players praising the 19-year-old.

Former Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts called Iroegbunam a ‘baller’, whilst Caleb Chukwuemeka posted in the comments section that his club teammate is ‘the commander’.

The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Carney Chukwuemeka and Dane Scarlett also praised Villa’s up-and-coming star.

IROEGBUNAM TO BE IN THE FIRST-TEAM PICTURE NEXT SEASON?

The defensive-minded midfielder is certainly showing the signs that suggest he should be part of Villa’s squad next season.

Some may even argue that he should have stayed on board this season, and in truth, with a worrying and possibly long-term injury to Boubacar Kamara, then he probably should have.

But, at the end of the day, with Michael Beale willing to provide Iroegbunam with regular minutes in the Championship, it will only enhance his progression.

And whether Steven Gerrard is in the Villa dugout next season or not, Iroegbunam has to be part of the manager’s first-team plans.
