Speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Dean Jones has been discussing the recent rumours linking Timo Werner with a move to Newcastle United.
The Magpies have been credited with an interest in Werner for quite some time now, and these links have once again been doing the rounds this week.
Jones is led to believe that the Tyneside club are fans of the German attacker, but unfortunately, this transfer remains unlikely.
Indeed, according to Jones’ latest information, Werner isn’t overly keen on a move to Newcastle, with the attacker preferring to join a team that is currently competing in Europe.
What’s been said?
Jones shared what he knows about Werner and Newcastle.
“Linked with Newcastle, I have given this one a low rating mainly because I do believe that Newcastle do like him and could go for him, but I don’t believe that Timo Werner wants to join Newcastle, that’s the main information I have got. If Timo Werner leaves it will have to be for a team that is already in Europe in England or it will have to be abroad,” Jones said.

Can’t blame him
As much as Newcastle fans may not like to hear it, we can’t really blame Werner for not fancying a move to Tyneside this summer.
Think about it, we’re months out from a World Cup, and if Werner is playing for a mid-table Premier League side, Hansi Flick would have every excuse to leave him out of his Germany squad.
At the age of 26, Werner needs to be playing at the highest level possible, and given the fact that he’s struggled in England, we can absolutely understand why he’s not desperate to join Newcastle anytime soon.
Perhaps a return to the Bundesliga could be just what the doctor ordered for Werner.
