We pick out the Ligue 1 players that West Bromwich Albion might pursue at the end of the season.

With Premier League survival secured, West Bromwich Albion’s hierarchy can begin to make plans for the summer transfer window. Tony Pulis may have to look abroad to strengthen his small squad, and the thriving French League wouldn’t be a bad place to start scouting for new recruits.

So let’s take a look at three potential targets from Ligue 1:

Ryan Boudebouz

The Montpellier attacking midfielder is likely to attract Premier League suitors in the summer after excelling under the management of Jean-Louis Gasset this season.

Boudebouz – billed as the ‘next Riyad Mahrez’ – was linked with a move to the Hawthorns by Algerian newspaper Le Buteur in January but remained with La Paillade. The 27-year-old, who already has clocked up ten goals and seven assists this campaign, would add versatility, flair and a clinical touch to Albion’s attack.

Steve Mounie

West Brom have navigated most of this season with Salomon Rondon and Hal Robson-Kanu as their only available senior strikers. So Pulis will surely want to bolster his striking options and give his side a chance of building on their impressive 2016/7 season.

If Albion could lure one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1 to the Hawthorns it would be a big step towards that goal.

Mounie has scored 13 goals for Montpellier this season, which places him behind the likes of Edison Cavani, Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Lacazette on the top goal-scorer charts. The 22-year-old has scored the most headed goals in the division and would be a perfect fit in Pulis’ physical side.

Romain Thomas

The Angers defender is at risk of becoming the next Aruna Dindane if his name keeps being linked with the Baggies.

Thomas continues to turn heads for Stephane Moulin’s mid-table side but he would still provide a low-cost option for Pulis in the summer. The towering centre-back has featured 29 times this season, helping Angers collect six clean sheets in the process.
