David Beckham has made no secret of his love of tennis, having often frequented events at the Miami Open and Wimbledon.
The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend went viral after catching a ball at Wimbledon in 2015, and he’s often praised the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.
While the star has kept up to date with the biggest stars in the sport in recent years, it was a meeting with his childhood hero that left him floored in 2024.
Beckham took to social media to share his meeting with Andre Agassi and described it as a ‘bucket list moment’.

David Beckham’s meeting with Andre Agassi in 2024
As the owner of Inter Miami, the footballing legend is now based in the American city, and he attended the 2024 Miami Open.
He met Andre Agassi at the tournament, and even played padel with the star he grew up watching in the 1990s and 2000s.
Beckham shared a picture with Agassi on his Instagram, with the caption: “Bucket list moment. As a kid I had the racket, the oversized shorts , the walk & the hair, and now I got to meet the man.”
The sporting icon added: “WOW, what a morning and I got to see that backhand. Andre Agassi, thank you.”
Agassi won eight majors across his career, most of which came while Beckham was a teenager. The American won his sole Wimbledon in 1992, the same year Beckham made his debut for Manchester United.
David Beckham’s love of tennis
Beckham has praised multiple tennis stars throughout the years, but he was particularly quick on the uptake when it came to Andy Murray.
Beckham first praised Murray after he had made a thrilling Wimbledon debut back in 2005. The Scot defeated George Bastl and Radek Stepanek before losing to David Nalbandian in the third round.
Speaking to BBC Newsround, the football icon revealed: “I think Murray is great, and it’s going to be exciting watching him develop as a player.”
He also made a bold prediction about Murray dealing with the pressure in front of a home crowd at Wimbledon.
“From watching him, I don’t think [the pressure] would be a problem in his career,” he added.
Murray famously won Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016, bringing to an end the lengthy drought for a British winner at SW19.
