Watford have sacked Spanish manager Xisco Munoz following their 1-0 loss away to Leeds United.
The club confirmed on their official website that the 41-year-old coach had been relieved of his duties. Munoz leaves Watford with the Premier League side in 14th place after seven games in the campaign.
Given the history Watford have of dismissing managers, it is perhaps not too surprising a story. However, with the Hornets being promoted back to the top-flight this season and starting the year well, it makes this particular incident a baffling one.
Watford have won more games this season than the aforementioned Leeds as well other clubs in the division such as Crystal Palace and Southampton. With fellow promoted side Norwich winning just one point, dismissing Munoz feels harsh.
Yet for Leeds fans, they believe that their side played a key role in the dismissal of the now former Watford manager. The away trip to Elland Road was Munoz’s last match in charge of the Hornets.
The Spanish coach spoke post-match how Marcelo Bielsa’s plan limited what Watford were aiming to do. The result saw the Yorkshire side finally claim their first win of the Premier League season.
Leeds fans have taunted Watford for the sacking of their manager

The story will no doubt be a huge moment in the Premier League this season, with Watford hoping their next appointment can lead them further up the table and away from safety.
Here’s what some Leeds fans had to say on Twitter about their win being the nail in the coffin for Munoz’s time as Watford manager on Twitter…
