Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that the ‘latest information’ he is getting is that Roma feel Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele ‘doesn’t fit their profile’, as he told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (12/01/22 at 5:30 pm).
The Sky reporter added that Jose Mourinho’s side want to make ‘another loan signing’ during the January transfer window, but it won’t be in the form of Tottenham’s ball-carrying midfielder.
If that’s the case, then it’s bad news for Tottenham and their quest to part ways with their club-record signing, as well as the player trying to leave north London.
Ndombele, after being booed by Spurs fans during their FA Cup win over the weekend, was left out of the squad that got dumped out of the League Cup by Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The signs are pretty clear that Ndombele’s time at Spurs is coming to an end, with the club looking to sell him and the player happy to leave, according to The Athletic.
But it seems as though Roma won’t be one of the clubs taking him on board, as Sky reporter Solhekol, shared the latest on the player.
“There has been a lot of talk in the last few days that Ndombele could be leaving Spurs,” said Solhekol. “Maybe out on loan.
“There have been talk in Italy that Napoli could be interested in signing him. Roma, managed by the former Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho.
“The latest information we have as far as Roma are concerned is Ndombele doesn’t fit the profile of player they are looking for, at the moment.
“I think they are looking to make another loan signing. But we are being told that it’s unlikely to be Ndombele.”
The issue Spurs are going to face is that it’s going to be difficult enough to try and get Ndombele off their books.
The main issue is the fee they paid to sign him, the wages he is going to be on and the form, or lack of it, the player has been in.
All of that combined isn’t going to result in teams throwing themselves at the player or banging down Tottenham’s door for his services.
Added with that, given that teams are aware that he can leave, then they will want cut-price deals or favourable loan deals to take him on board.
All in all, it makes life difficult to move him on, which then, in tune, makes Tottenham’s life more difficult.
