Sadio Mane was the hero for Premier League title-chasing Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Liverpool kept alive their title ambition by winning 2-1 away to Aston Villa.
Sadio Mane’s excellent header midway through the second half completed the comeback for a Reds side who were 1-0 down after only three minutes in the Midlands.
As a result of the victory, Jurgen Klopp’s side have moved level on points with Manchester City at the summit, though the Sky Blues can restore their three-point cushion with a victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight.
Pep Guardiola’s troops will still be major favourites to win the title ahead of Liverpool.
But Adrian San Miguel, who hasn’t kicked a ball under Klopp since October, has reacted to Tuesday’s win on Instagram, claiming that the ‘last word has not been spoken’.
Class
What a class act Adrian is.
Many Liverpool supporters aren’t crazy about the former West Ham United goalkeeper due to his error-prone displays in the past.
However, he is the very definition of a team player.
Adrian made the trip to Villa Park on Tuesday and watched in the stands, despite the fact he barely even makes Klopp’s matchday squad anymore.
As mentioned, the Spaniard hasn’t played a senior game for the Reds since way back in October after falling behind Caoimhin Kelleher in the pecking order, but that hasn’t stopped him from supporting his teammates in person and post-match Instagram comments like this are nothing new.
He’ll be leaving Kirkby this summer on a free transfer and although Liverpool won’t miss him on the field, the players will miss him behind the scenes as a result of his leadership.
