Jamie Carragher told CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage on Wednesday night that he has a few omens, which include Everton, that point towards Liverpool bringing number seven home this season.

After a number of troublesome weeks in the Premier League, it was a completely different story for Liverpool in Europe last night, as they easily dispatched RB Leipzig over two legs.

Carragher shared that the last time Everton finished in the top-four, and he believes they have ‘half a chance’ this term, they triumphed in that epic comeback in 2005.

That was also the last time a certain now-iconic duo in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi failed to reach the last-16 of Europe, and guess what’s happened now?

Added with the above, he also reeled off other omens which point towards his former club heading towards Istanbul.

“The omens, do you want them,” said Carragher. “The last time Manchester City won the Premier League, and they are going to win the Premier League this season, in 2019, you do know who won the Champion League?!

“The last time Everton qualified for the Champions League and made the top four, half a chance this season, 2005. And we know who the Champions League winners were that season.

“Messi and Ronaldo, both out of the Champions League. Do you know the last time that happened when they never made the last 16? 2005!

“It’s happening! Istanbul. We have scored more goals in Budapest than at Anfield during these past few weeks. But I can just feel it. Serial winners in the Champions League. It’s just something in the bones.”

Given the season Liverpool are enduring, it would be something if Klopp can secure number seven, and that without the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

It seems unlikely but crazier things have happened in the Champions League before and they usually involve Liverpool.

Given that the Reds are heading towards finishing outside of the top-four, they may find that their best route to Champions League football next season is winning the thing.
