Mikel Arteta stated that the ‘last thing’ Arsenal needed was a potential injury to Bukayo Saka, as he told Sky Sports.
The 19-year-old started Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Sheffield United on Sunday, but then sustained a muscle injury and was then replaced by Willian midway through the second half.
Given that Arsenal’s biggest game of the season awaits them on Thursday, it’s not helpful that one of their star players will be a doubt.
Arteta had a message for Arsenal fans regarding Saka’s injury and how they will have to wait on how his situation ‘develops in the next few days’.
“I don’t know yet [the severity of the injury],” said Arteta. “He had to come off as he had discomfort in his thigh which is the last thing that we needed.
“We’re missing some big players out at the moment, so the last thing we need is another one. Hopefully, it’s not that serious.
“I don’t know the extent of it. We’ll have to see how Bukayo develops in the next few days.”

It’s been a bit of a stop-start few weeks for Saka because of injuries and it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
The heat in the North London kitchen is beginning to crank up for Arteta, with season-defining games on his doorstep.
Whilst Arsenal will continue to push in the Premier League, the most crucial of them all is the Europa League and trying to win that competition after an abject campaign.
