Everton take on Watford this weekend, with their last victory over the Hornets coming in 2007.

This weekend sees Everton travelling to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.

They take on Walter Mazzarri’s side looking to arrest a disappointing run of form that has seen them pick up just two wins from their last ten games.

They have enjoyed themselves against the Hornets in the past, though, with 17 wins from 22 games against them in all competitions.

Last season they failed to beat them home and away, with their last success actually coming all the way back in February 2007.

It’s been nine years since that victory, so who featured for the Toffees in the comfortable win? Here’s their team.

Tim Howard

This game actually came in Howard’s first season at Everton after he joined on loan from Manchester United in the summer of 2006.

He would go on to make the move to Goodison Park a permanent one and go on to rack up 414 appearances in all competitions for the Blues before leaving this summer to join Colorado Rapids.

Joleon Lescott

Signed in the summer of 2006, Lescott went on to make 143 appearances over four seasons for the Blues before leaving acrimoniously for Manchester City.

He has since had spells with West Brom, Aston Villa and AEK Athens but was released by the Greek side in November.

Gary Naysmith

Naysmith spent seven years at Everton before departing for Sheffield United in 2007 as part of the deal that saw Phil Jagielka move the other way.

He spent three years with the Blades before joining Huddersfield and Aberdeen before moving to East Fife as a player-assistant manager and is now player-manager of East Fife in the Scottish second division.

Phil Neville

Neville made 303 appearances for the Toffees as well as captaining them under David Moyes.

He retired from football in 2013 and joined Valencia as a coach in July 2015, eventually ending up working under brother Gary. He left when his brother did and can now be found trying to reignite his punditry career.

Joseph Yobo

Yobo was something of an enigma at Goodison Park. At times he looked like a solid centre-half, at other times, not so much.

Moyes’ first signing at the club, he went on to make 259 appearances in all competitions and was the first African to captain the Blues. He retired in 2015.

Mikel Arteta

A man who is still thought of fondly at Goodison Park to this day, Arteta made 209 appearances for the Blues before departing for Arsenal in 2011.

He won two FA Cups and two Community Shields with the Gunners before retiring at the end of last season and is now part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching setup at Manchester City.

Tim Cahill

Another midfielder who is still a fan favourite at Goodison Park, the Australian made 278 appearances and scored 68 goals for the Blues.

He left for New York Red Bulls in 2012 and has since played in China, before returning to his homeland to play for Melbourne City this season.

Lee Carsley

Once part of an infamous midfield duo alongside Thomas Gravesen, Carsley made 199 appearances in all competitions for Everton.

He left in 2008 and after spells with Birmingham City and Coventry and retired in 2011 before embarking on a coaching career and is currently with Manchester City’s Under 18 team.

Manuel Fernandes

Signed in the January transfer window, this was one of nine appearances for Fernandes in this season.

This game saw him grab his first goal for the club and he came close to joining permanently before eventually joining Valencia that summer. He has since had spells with Besiktas and currently turns out for Lokomotiv Moscow.

James Beattie

Signed from Southampton, David Moyes had hoped Beattie would answer Everton’s need for a goalscorer.

It didn’t prove to be the case as he managed just 86 appearances and 15 goals in all competitions. He left in 2007 and after spells with several clubs in England, as well as Rangers, is now a coach at Leeds United.

Andy Johnson

Another striker who failed to hit the heights at Goodison Park, Johnson managed just 22 goals in all competitions for the Toffees.

He went on to join Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace before retiring in 2015 and is currently involved as an ambassador for the Eagles.
