Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Everton-linked striker Joshua Zirkzee.

The Bayern Munich attacker has been linked with a move to Goodison Park this month, and while Romano says Everton have a strong interest in the player, it seems as though bringing him to Merseyside won’t be a straightforward process.

Indeed, the journalist claims that it may be difficult to find an agreement with the player due to the fact that he’s thinking a lot about his long-term future.

“Talking about strikers, now I want to update because Everton fans are texting me every day about Zirkzee from Bayern Munich,” Romano said.

“Italian club Parma are still trying, but Everton are interested, so interested. I know that Everton are denying this move, just because they can try to do something like find an opportunity for this guy, so there is nothing completed yet and they want to be 100 per cent sure on Zirkzee.

“So at the moment, there is nothing completed, but Everton and Parma are in the race for Zirkzee, and we have to see the decision of the player, because the key will be the player, more than Bayern Munich, more than an agreement with the club, the problem will be finding an agreement with the player because he wants to think to his future, so pay attention to Everton and Parma.”

So, it seems as though it will be quite simple to negotiate with Bayern, but Zirkzee himself could provide a stumbling block.

It makes sense for Zirkzee to be a tough negotiator at this time, after all, leaving Bayern is a massive risk for any player, but even more so for a 19-year-old.

Everton are an interesting club in this respect, they have one of the best managers in the world in Carlo Ancelotti, so there is certainly reason to believe you’d develop well there, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison seem nigh on undroppable at the moment.

On top of that, we’ve already seen Everton struggle to get the best out of one talented young striker in the shape of Moise Kean.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
