Tony Cottee told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (26/12/20 at 1:45 pm) that West Ham striker Sebastien Haller ‘flatters to decisive’.

No-one at West Ham has had a tougher time of it at the club than Haller, 26, whose big-money price-tag has added unnecessary pressure on his shoulders.

Inconsistent game time, from scoring the winner at Sheffield United to then being dropped to the bench in the next game doesn’t help his cause, nor does not playing to his strengths.

Cottee was a man who knew how to find the back of the net during his playing days, as he shared his thoughts on Haller.

“I look at Haller and he flatters to deceive,” said Cottee. “And they miss Antonio.

“The thing is we are all trying to judge Haller and it’s very, very difficult to judge him because you are thinking he hasn’t really got the support up alongside him.

“I know he hasn’t been playing well recently. But it he could have a small man or even just another forward alongside him to give Moyes the option of playing two up front then you could make a real judgement out of him because, at the moment, the jury is out on Haller.”

More than likely, if things continue as they are with Haller then he will perhaps end up being sold by the club.

Whilst David Moyes has been patient with the target man, it needs to be remembered that he’s not his signing, so he could dispatch of him very easily.

Plus, with Michail Antonio’s injury rearing its ugly head again, Moyes needs a trustworthy and consistent performer behind him and Haller doesn’t seem to be standing up to that cause.
