Juan Sebastian Veron has defended Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Rodrigo de Paul, for the manner in which he has been treated at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
It’s not going as well as de Paul would have wanted because, after Argentina suffered a shock opening defeat against Saudi Arabia, de Paul was on the end of some serious stick from fans and his own media.
Even though Lionel Messi inspired the South American giants to three points against Mexico last time out, verbal punches were still being thrown at de Paul for his performances in the middle of the park.

Veron has been there before at the 2002 World Cup with Argentina, which was a tournament to forget, but given what has been coming de Paul’s way, he was quick to defend his fellow countryman, as he posted on his Instagram story.
“I already saw this,” said Veron. “Keep trying. The idiots will continue looking for you to fall and blame you for a result.
“Come on. Don’t slow down. You have a lot of football to give.”
TOTTENHAM’S INTEREST IN DE PAUL
The Atletico Madrid man hasn’t been himself during this tournament and that player who wowed at Copa America is yet to turn up.
But that could be said for most of this Argentina team, bar a certain bloke named Lionel Messi.
Saying that, a certain Antonio Conte, back at Hotspur Way, seems to be an admirer of the all-action midfielder.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has made it clear that de Paul isn’t for sale, but it seems Tottenham will be pushing to sign the player in January.
