Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham to beat Swansea 2-0.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will beat Swansea City 2-0 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Spurs lost a Premier League game for the first time this season last weekend, as they were beaten 2-1 away at Chelsea, leaving them without a win at Stamford Bridge since February 1990 and leaving Mauricio Pochettino with just one win in the last ten games in all competitions.

Tottenham desperately need a positive result and a strong performance to turn things around, but given that they lie just four points outside of the top four, this is far from a crisis for Pochettino’s side.

Today, they take on Swansea City at White Hart Lane, with the Swans coming off a stunning 5-4 win over Crystal Palace last weekend, which was their first victory in the Premier League since the first day of the season.

Bob Bradley’s men showed that they can score goals against a shaky Palace side, but their own defence endured a nightmare at the Liberty Stadium, and a fit-again Harry Kane will be desperate to face Bradley’s unconvincing back four.

Saturday’s win leaves Swansea just two points away from safety, and with ex-Tottenham playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson in the ranks, they will be hoping to surprise a major shock at White Hart Lane.

Ahead of this afternoon’s game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham will win the game 2-0, suggesting that this is the ideal game for Spurs and Pochettino after Swansea’s defensive performance against Palace.

Lawrenson noted that Tottenham have drawn too many games recently, and need a win to find their feet again – and the chance to play against a Swansea side whose defence is ‘all over the place’ comes at the perfect time.

“Last weekend’s defeat by Chelsea was the first of the season for Spurs in the Premier League but they had drawn a lot of games before then and have won just one of their last six league games,” said Lawrenson.

“Swansea ended their long winless run against Palace last time out, but they were obviously still all over the place at the back. So, this seems to be the ideal game for Tottenham, who need a win to find their feet again,” he added.
