Leeds United fans have been left wowed by Alex Mowatt’s thunderbolt for West Brom on Tuesday night.
A certain left-footed magician in Lionel Messi may have been scoring his first goal for PSG last night, but not even his goal tops Mowatt’s during West Brom’s 4-0 win at Cardiff.
After the ball dropped to the 26-year-old on the edge of the area, he volleyed the ball straight into the top corner, with the ball zipping into the back of the net like it had just been shot from a cannon.
Leeds fans praised their former academy player for his efforts because he is starting to get into some seriously good goalscoring habits.
When Mowatt scores, they aren’t tap-ins or close-range finishes, but worldies from the edge of the area, with the technique used that’s not even in the textbook.
In 2017, Mowatt parted ways with his boyhood club and headed across Yorkshire to Barnsley.
The hard-hitting midfielder seemingly had something to prove because he was deemed not good enough for the Whites.
But as soon as he got his engine going for the Tykes, he has turned into a machine and narrowly missed out on helping Barnsley reach the Premier League last season.
Those performances at Oakwell, earned him a move to West Brom, on a free-transfer, and he is now on the road to joining Leeds in the Premier League.
The Baggies are sitting top of the Championship table and the early signs suggest that they are set to bounce straight back up.
