Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has been dissecting his performance against Everton, and he spoke about Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey was given the unenviable task of keeping tabs on Antonio last weekend, and while West Ham won 2-1, the Everton centre-back did a decent job of keeping the striker quiet.

Antonio was a bit taken aback by just how quick Godfrey was as he recounted the moments leading to Jarrod Bowen’s winning goal.

What’s been said?

Antonio spoke about the build-up to West Ham’s second goal.

“Pablo put me in, I was down the line, I really wanted to cut in on my right, but Ben Godfrey was there, the guy is rapid by the way, I took it on my left, tried to go across the goalkeeper, and it drops to Jarrod Bowen, like it does all the time, and he puts it into the back of the net,” Antonio said.

So quick

While Godfrey isn’t having the best of seasons, one thing that cannot be denied is his pace at the back.

The former Norwich man may be struggling with the defensive side of his game, but in terms of athleticism, there are few that can match the centre-half.

If Michail Antonio says that you’re rapid you must be a seriously speedy footballer.
