Lando Norris realised a childhood dream on Sunday as the McLaren star secured the 2025 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
It certainly threatened to be an exciting conclusion to the 2025 Formula One season. Heading into the final race, Lando Norris led the way in the Championship.
All he needed in Abu Dhabi was to finish in the top three. But if he slipped up, there was a chance that his teammate Oscar Piastri or Red Bull’s Max Verstappen could snatch the title at the final hurdle.
What handicap Lando Norris had at this year’s BMW PGA Championship
Verstappen began the final race on pole, while Piastri overtook Norris on the opening lap. But ultimately, the Englishman did exactly what he needed to do to add his name to the history books.
It has obviously been a gruelling season for Norris. So you would think that he will now be looking forward to some time off.

And it is likely that he will be playing plenty of golf before his attention switches to trying to defend his title in the 2026 season.
Norris is an avid golfer, playing in the pro-am at the BMW PGA Championship, the DP World Tour’s flagship event, back in September. At the time, he was playing off a handicap of eight, according to Golf Magic.
But it is hard to imagine that he has had the opportunity to play too much golf in the last few months.

Wentworth – which is just a short drive from the McLaren Technology Centre – was far from the first time that Norris has rubbed shoulders with some of the world’s best golfers. He was one of the Formula One drivers who took part in The Netflix Cup back in 2023.
Norris was paired with Rickie Fowler, but they lost out to Justin Thomas and Carlos Sainz in their match.
Thomas and Sainz ended up winning the competition, beating Tony Finau and Pierre Gasly.
But given Norris’ triumph in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, it is hard to imagine that he will care too much.
