West Ham United striker Michail Antonio is backing Tottenham Hotspur to finish in the Champions League spots this season.
Tottenham have impressed in the Premier League under new manager Ange Postecoglou so far, taking seven points from nine, and Michail Antonio thinks they can secure qualification for Europe’s elite competition if they keep it up.
Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast about Postecoglou and Spurs, the West Ham star said: “To be honest, I’m rating him. The football that they’re playing, they’re playing free-flowing football. It’s decent.”
Antonio also went on to add later on the podcast: “I feel they’re going to be up there. I could put them in the Champions League spots for next season if they keep going the way they are.”
After being knocked out by Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup, Tottenham will now be able to concentrate on the Premier League and cementing a place in the top four until the new year, when the FA Cup third round takes place.
Tottenham can qualify for the Champions League
After selling their talisman Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, making a return to Europe’s elite competition is not going to be easy.
However, early signs suggest that Tottenham do have a chance. Again, they have looked good under Postecoglou, while some of their top-four rivals are yet to convince.

Manchester United, who Spurs have already beaten this season, only managed to scrape a win against Nottingham Forest last weekend, while Newcastle United lost to Liverpool despite going a goal up and playing most of the game with a one-man advantage following Virgil van Dijk’s sending off in the first half.
There is a long way to go, but Tottenham fans will probably be feeling more confident now than they did before the season kicked off.
It would have been disappointing watching the team crash out of the Carabao Cup so early, but at least Spurs’ full focus can be on the Premier League until the new year.
