Novak Djokovic has played in many iconic venues across the world, conquering the majority over the years.

Djokovic boasts more Grand Slam titles than any other male player, while he has 101 ATP Tour titles to his name.

The Serbian legend is currently enjoying some downtime ahead of another season, having really impressed in 2025.

Despite celebrating his 38th birthday in May, Djokovic won two titles and reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams.

One title arrived at his new home in Athens, which would have been a dream come true for the icon after moving his family there.

He did, however, suffer a handful of disappointing results at other events, including the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid in April.

Djokovic lost his opener in the Spanish capital, having been in high spirits beforehand during a visit to the stadium of Real Madrid Football Club.

As per the club’s official X account, he said of the Santiago Bernabeu: “What a beauty. It’s very special. It is the best stadium in the world. It is amazing. Wow. What an experience.”

And when asked if he’d like to play a tennis match there, he said: “A tennis match would be amazing yeah. Maybe, who knows? One day. It would be great.”

Tennis fans could be forgiven for thinking that Djokovic is preparing for retirement, but that doesn’t look likely.

He’s certainly not at the level that he used to be, but he remains a real threat to star duo Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

They dominated the ATP Tour in 2025, during which they won all four Grand Slams between them, but Djokovic definitely gave them a scare at times.

It truly is remarkable that after all this time, he represents their biggest threat, with no other player really emerging as a clear contender.

Whether that scenario continues to play out in 2026 remains to be seen, but one certainty is that Djokovic will be aiming for a record 25th Grand Slam success at the Australian Open.
