David de Gea could miss some very important matches for Manchester United if stories regarding his latest injury prove to be true.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could miss the next four weeks after suffering a dislocated finger while on international duty for Spain.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding spell between the posts for United this season and if he is unavailable it will come as a huge blow to Louis van Gaal just when they need him the most.
For now the reports regarding exactly how long De Gea will be out – if at all – are unsubstantiated, but if he is missing for four weeks he will miss some very important matches.
United’s next game is away to Arsenal – a match they will be desperate to have their first-choice ‘keeper available for.
Next up are home games against Hull City and Stoke City that United will want to take six points from but without De Gea – and with their defensive issues remaining – that could suddenly become a lot more difficult.
And then comes a vital week of matches against second-placed Southampton and fierce rivals Liverpool.
If De Gea does miss the next four weeks of action those are the five games he will be unavailable for, at a time when they need their best players on the pitch not the treatment table.
