With the Premier League being regarded as one of the greatest leagues in the world, it is no surprise that the names on this list are also considered to be some of the best players to ever grace the division. 7

Whether they specialised in long-range screamers or goal-poaching tap-ins, these stars have all racked up quite the total over the years.

1) Alan Shearer – 260 goals

Alan Shearer is known as the greatest Premier League striker of all time, and it is hard to dispute that fact given his phenomenal unbeaten tally of 260 goals. With one winners’ medal and a host of memorable strikes, he will forever be remembered as one of the best by fans up and down the country.

Alan Shearer at Newcastle United

After a successful tenure at Blackburn Rovers where he helped to guide them to the title, Shearer moved to boyhood club Newcastle United where he really solidified himself as a legend. As well as his record-breaking goals haul, he also became the first player to score 100 PL goals for two separate teams.

2) Wayne Rooney – 194 goals

He may be one of the most polarising figures in English football today, but Wayne Rooney will always be known as a fantastic centre-forward for club and country. After beginning his career at Everton where he quickly made a name for himself as a teenager, Rooney made a multi-million pound move to Manchester United.

It was at Old Trafford that he truly became a household name under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson, and over the years he has managed to rack up an impressive 194 goals in the Premier League. Whether or not he is able to catch Shearer remains to be seen, but hitting the big 200 will still make him just the second player in history to achieve that feat.

3) Andy Cole – 187 goals

Not far behind his fellow countryman, Andy Cole made his mark on the league throughout a long career during which time he played for six clubs in the top flight. Newcastle, Blackburn, Manchester City, Fulham and Portsmouth all benefited from his abilities, but it was during his tenure at Manchester United where he made the most headlines.

One of his defining moments was back in 1999, when his goal against Tottenham helped United to seal the Premier League title en-route to winning the treble. Whilst Cole may not always remain in the top three goalscorers of all-time, his legacy will continue on for years to come.

4) Frank Lampard – 177 goals

The fact that Frank Lampard is the only midfielder on this list should tell you just how outstanding he was. With a number of winners’ medals and fantastic strikes to his name, Lampard will go down in history as one of the best all-round players the English game has ever seen.

After initially starting out his career at West Ham, he moved across London to Chelsea which is where he became the legend that he is today. Even after leaving Stamford Bridge he still managed to maintain his quality, moving to Manchester City and later New York City FC where he continues to shine in the MLS.

5) Thierry Henry – 175 goals

The Frenchman is the only foreigner in the top 10 list of all-time Premier League goalscorers, which indicates just how important he is in terms of the history of the Premier League. His one and only club in England was his beloved Arsenal, and it was under Arsene Wenger that he turned himself into the greatest striker Highbury or the Emirates has ever seen.

He played an integral part of The Invincibles season when they went unbeaten, and he was known for his composure in front of goal. Whether you love him or hate him, nobody can deny that Henry was a joy to watch whenever he stepped onto the pitch.
