Alex Crook has stated that Tottenham Hotspur fans should get ‘excited’ with the possible appointment of Arne Slot as their next manager because the Feyenoord coach is being compared with Pep Guardiola.
The talkSPORT journalist added that this could be a ‘big week’ for Tottenham because Daniel Levy is edging closer to bringing in a new face to replace Antonio Conte.
After guiding Feyenoord to the Dutch title, could Arne Slot be that guy? Well, Crook shared that he is ‘very interested’ in the Tottenham job and it looks like he might be the man to come in with a fee of ‘£6 million’ being touted, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (22/05/23).

There will be obvious comparisons with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United because, after guiding Ajax to the Dutch title, he moved to Old Trafford last summer.
The football is improving at Manchester United, a trophy is already in the cabinet, and another could follow in the FA Cup final, whilst they are inches away from returning to the Champions League.
If Slot is appointed, and he were to bring that to Spurs, then it would be a seriously, seriously top appointment.
Nonetheless, this is what Crook made of it all, those comparisons with Pep Guardiola, as a deal could be closer than people think.
“It feels like it could be a big week for Tottenham, in terms of their managerial search,” said Crook. “It’s nearly two months since Antonio Conte was sacked and it looks like Tottenham are finally honing in on a successor.
“The word coming out of Holland is that Arne Slot, the Feyenoord manager, who has just led them to the Dutch title, is very interested in the Tottenham job. It’s a bit complicated because he has a release clause in his contract. That doesn’t kick in until next season, so it will need negotiation between Tottenham and Feyenoord. The fee that has been touted is around £6 million.
“Looks like he and Luis Enrique are two of the front runners – Arne Slot looks like he might be the man to replace Antonio Conte.
“I think what Tottenham like about Arne Slot is the style of play. I have heard Dutch football experts on this station, he is very much in the Pep Guardiola mould, so that should get Tottenham fans excited, so I think Arne Slot ticks a lot of boxes.”

SLOT’S STYLE OF PLAY
Well, when you are being compared, in terms of your style of play, to Pep Guardiola, then you have got something about you.
That ‘style of play’ has been a major talking point between Spurs fans in recent seasons and how their defensive-minded coaches haven’t been easy to watch.
Well, if it is indeed Slot being named as Tottenham’s next manager, then that free-flowing style might just be brought back, amongst many other major issues that need to be dealt with, including Harry Kane’s future.
