The England international would be the perfect candidate to step into Benzema’s shoes, but would Kane follow the footsteps of ex Tottenham favourite Gareth Bale?

With Karim Benzema approaching his 30’s and starting to show signs of decline, it’s only a matter of time before Real Madrid move for a new superstar striker – and they will have certainly taken notice of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane’s continuing rise towards becoming one of Europe’s top attackers.

After his recent hattrick against Stoke City, in what was a 4-0 win for Tottenham Hotspur, Kane now has an incredible 17 goals in 21 Premier League appearances this season.

By contrast, Benzema has scored 13 goals in 31 matches for one of the best clubs in world football this season. While Madrid also have the improving Alvaro Morata, he’s also been nowhere near as clinical as Kane, with 14 in 34.

While Kane is undoubtedly very loyal to Spurs, a move to the Spanish capital with arguably the world’s biggest club – with a guaranteed chance of winning the Champions League every year – may prove too hard to resist, just as it was for Tottenham’s last talisman, Gareth Bale.

Whether Kane would leave Tottenham if a bid – which would almost certainly be a world record fee – were to materialise is open to debate, with the player a boyhood fan and homegrown hero. The 23-year-old may want to stay put given what manager Mauricio Pocchetino is building at White Hart Lane, and the stunning new stadium that is growing on the doorstep of their famous home.

One thing is for sure, the more Kane shines for the North Londoners, the more attention he is going to get from the biggest, richest teams in the world. If he was to switch to Madrid’s white over Spurs’, the Spanish club would’ve signed one of the world’s best strikers.

Tottenham supporters will know that matching their own development to that of Kane’s could be crucial to keeping him as one of their own.
