Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Allan Saint-Maximin has been discussing who the fastest player at Newcastle United is.
Most Newcastle fans would probably say that Saint-Maximin himself is the fastest player at the football club, and the winger did credit himself with being one of the quickest within the group.
However, Saint-Maximin did also say that there’s another player who can compete with him in terms of speed, stating that Joe Willock is another speedster who can contend with him in terms of pace.
Willock up there with Saint-Maximin
The winger named Willock and himself as the two fastest players at the club.
“Who is the fastest player at the club?” Saint Maximin was asked.
“The fastest player in the club would be me or Joe Willock I would say,” Saint-Maximin said.
Doesn’t show it as much
We may not see it so much on the pitch due to his position, but Willock is one of the quickest players at Newcastle.
It’s hard to get up to full-speed when you’re playing in the midfield as you rarely get the space to accelerate fully, meanwhile, Saint-Maximin gets into a full sprint a few times per game as he marauds down the wing where the pitch isn’t so crowded.
It would be interesting to see Willock face Saint-Maximin in a race, because as quick as the Frenchman looks on the ball, the former Arsenal man may have his number when it comes to a straight line race.
Perhaps that’s something we’ll see on social media at some point as Saint-Maximin has never been one to back away from a challenge like this.
