Speaking on his Twitch channel, Fabrice Muamba has stated that Newcastle should have a look at Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

Muamba isn’t the first pundit to speak about the Tyneside outfit looking at Lingard, but his explanation as to why he thinks the midfielder would be a good fit for the Magpies is interesting.

Indeed, the former Bolton midfielder believes Lingard would do well at Newcastle because of his personality and his ability to market United to a worldwide audience.

What’s been said about Lingard?

Muamba spoke about Lingard and Newcastle.

“I would go to Man United and I would say ‘Jesse, you aren’t playing anymore man, what are your wages? If you’re on £3m a year at United, we’ll give you £6m a year at Newcastle, what do you think?’ I’m just speaking as a player who is not playing. Jesse could do well if he goes to Newcastle like he did at West Ham. Once he scores his first goal he would be well into it, the fans would love him, of course they would, he has a character about him, he has a very likeable personality, he’s good in front of the camera and he would sell Newcastle very well worldwide,” Muamba said.

More than a footballing signing

Muamba is absolutely right about Lingard, his arrival would be about so much more than what he brings on the pitch.

The Manchester United man is a truly marketable star, and once he starts scoring, fans will absolutely take to his antics and celebrations.

His arrival would also lift the Newcastle dressing room, everyone at West Ham took to him as soon as he arrived on loan, so he could do exactly the same on Tyneside.
