Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Paul Merson has been discussing the Leeds United managerial situation and Marcelo Bielsa.
Jesse Marsch has now left Leeds and the Whites are on the hunt for his replacement.
A number of names have been touted as potential options, but Merson believes that the only manager who could get them out of trouble is Bielsa.
Of course, Bielsa was the Leeds manager between 2018 and 2022, but he was sacked after a string of poor results last season.

Bring Bielsa back
Merson made the case for Bielsa to return.
“I think the only way they could potentially get out of trouble is to bring Marcelo Bielsa back,” Merson wrote
“Leeds are used to playing in a certain way. They play at 100 miles-per-hour. It’s high-pressure football and they are full of energy. They could do worse than bringing Bielsa back. The fans would be on board with it.
“It’s so difficult to change style midway through a season.
“Now this Leeds team can still play in the way Bielsa wants to play. The players haven’t got time to change and get used to a completely new style of playing.
“Because of that Bielsa has to be an option.”
Risky
Merson says that Bielsa is the only manager who can get Leeds out of trouble, and we can’t help but disagree.
Indeed, the Argentine may well be a cult hero at the club, but let’s not forget, results under Bielsa towards the end were just as bad as the results under Marsch.
Leeds were getting thrashed on almost a weekly basis under the Argentine, and if he were to return, there’s no saying the same wouldn’t happen again.
It’s easy to cling onto the past, but Leeds have to move on here.
