Mo Salah has told FourFourTwo that his Liverpool contract is not about the money, and that the Liverpool fans know what he wants at Anfield. Salah current contract ends in June 2023, and talks have been ongoing for a while.
Salah, 29, has been in stunning form, his best campaign to date. The Reds ace has scored an incredible 30 goals in all competitions, and shown a new creative side to his game – laying on another 12 goals in assists.
Although he turns 30 in June, Liverpool are keen to extend his deal beyond 2023. It would be a travesty if the Reds do not keep Salah – and now, the Egyptian has spoken out about the deal in an interview with FourFourTwo.
The ex-Chelsea and Roma winger says that he wants to sign a new deal and the fans know what he wants – but that putting pen to paper has nothing to do with the money on the table. He says it is more than that.
“I don’t know, I have one year left. I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract it’s not everything about the money at all. So I don’t know, I can’t tell you exactly. I have one year left and the fans know what I want.”
“Yeah [I want to stay]. “This club means a lot to me – I’ve enjoyed my football here more than anywhere, I gave the club everything. I’ve had a lot of unbelievable moments trophies, individual goals, individual trophies.”
Salah on contract: Liverpool might just have to accept Salah demands
Whatever is preventing Salah from signing a new deal, needs to be sorted out – not only for Liverpool, but for all involved. Salah needs Liverpool just as much as Liverpool need Salah. The two are perfect for eachother.
While the Reds obviously need a player that has had a hand in 42 goals this season, Salah needs Liverpool because they play to his needs. They play to how he wants to play. The system is ideal for him. A deal must be done.
