Alan Shearer has praised Leeds United fans on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One for the support they gave to the team against Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road at the weekend.

Leeds played out a 1-1 draw with Brighton at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Danny Welbeck put the Seagulls in the lead in the 21st minute.

Pascal Struijk restored parity for Leeds in the second minute of injury time.

Newcastle legend and MOTD pundit Shearer has raved about the Leeds fans for sticking with the team against Brighton and throughout the campaign, as Jesse Marsch’s side fight for survival in the Premier League.

Shearer said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One: “It was a cracking atmosphere there. The fans have definitely stuck with them. It’s only Man City who have scored more goals than Leeds in the 90th minute.”

Relegation worries

Leeds are in massive trouble, and there is a very good chance that they will get relegated from the Premier League.

The Whites are 17th in the league table at the moment with 35 points from 37 matches.

Burnley are third from bottom with 34 points, but they have played 36 games.

Everton have also played 36 matches, and Frank Lampard’s team have picked up 36 games.

Leeds have to rely on Everton and Burnley’s results to stay up.
