Michael Owen has suggested that Aston Villa fans can’t complain about the performance they put in during their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, as pressure mounts on Steven Gerrard.
The former Liverpool striker thinks Villa’s upcoming fixtures will get ‘easier’ and if they play, like they did against Chelsea, against Fulham and Brentford, then ‘they will win more games than they will lose’, as he told Premier League Productions.
Villa are hovering one point above the Premier League’s zone and they have won only two games from ten matches this season.

This is after ending the previous campaign in a pretty abject fashion, added to Villa’s narrow, slow and sleep-walking style of play, fans are rightfully questioning what the club are doing on the training ground.
Well, it seems as though time could be running out for Gerrard, especially if Villa fail to beat Fulham and Brentford this week.
But, to no-one’s surprise, Owen defended his former teammate and thinks that he hasn’t lost his players, despite the club’s current form.
“The fans can’t be looking at that (Chelsea game), oh he has lost the players or he lost that,” said Owen. “That team looked good against Chelsea. They were unlucky to lose in many ways.
“It gets easier. Their next fixtures are winnable games. As Steven (Gerrard) said, if they play like that again, they will win more games than they will lose.”

COULD VILLA LURE POCHETTINO?
Well, it seems as though, even if Gerrard can get something at Fulham on Thursday night, then he might still be booted out of the door by the powers that be at the club.
There are suggestions that, if the Midlands side were to sack Gerrard, then they will try to lure former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG boss, Mauricio Pochettino, to the club.
Now, there aren’t any guarantees that Pochettino will accept Villa’s advances, but surely, if they get the signs that he would accept, then Gerrard has to leave tomorrow.
If he doesn’t accept the Villa job, then it’s understandable given that they aren’t in Europe and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Juventus sack Massimiliano Allegri and that, rightfully so, would be a better job for Poch.
