Ian Wright has said that he doesn’t feel that West Ham United or Everton will be able to make it into the top four this season.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, which was broadcast on Optus Sport, Wright shared how he feared that West Ham and Everton could come unstuck at crunch stage of the season.

West Ham threw away a 3-0 lead against Arsenal in their last match before the international break, while Everton recently lost at home to Burnley.

And Wright feels that this is now a part of the season where teams simply cannot afford to slip up.

“West Ham, what they did the other day against Arsenal, they have to win that game,” he said.

“The fact is Liverpool and the player’s that they’ve got – what we saw with West Ham, we don’t know what is going to happen with Leicester – you can’t write Liverpool off with the amount of quality they have got.

“I think that it goes down to Liverpool. West Ham’s performance the other day, I don’t think they’re going to make it.

“Everton and the way Everton are playing again, when it gets to this stage of the season, there’s certain games you have to win.

“And this is why I worry for West Ham and Everton, can they go into this stretch that teams are used to doing? I’m not sure if they can do that.”

West Ham do only sit two points away from the top four, so David Moyes’ players are certainly unlikely to have given up on their Champions League dream, despite their failure to hold on against Arsenal.

The Hammers are next in action against Wolves after the international break.

Everton, meanwhile, do have work to do if they are to make it back into Champions League contention.

The Toffees have slipped back to eighth in the Premier League table, although they do have a game in hand over all the teams around them.
