The FA have got it wrong on Marouane Fellaini

The FA have got it wrong on Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, says QPR fan Paul Moore who admits he is shocked to find himself sympathising with Joey Barton.

I for one am a very confused football fan at the moment. As per usual it’s the FA that have done it and as you can guess it’s not the first time!

Let me explain; I am not Joey Barton’s biggest fan and I felt the FA were right to hand him a stern punishment as he basically lost the plot.

Handing out stiff penalties is exactly what is needed and I thought they would take that stance with every player; how naive am I?

Fellaini aimed a head butt at Ryan Shawcross and just like one of his bullet headers he landed right on the bull’s eye!

So once I’d seen the evidence on TV I thought, ‘Another player they can make an example of’.

The FA have announced the player will get a three game ban; three games!

In other words they don’t think it’s that serious; the Belgian international fully intended to hurt the Stoke defender but that doesn’t seem to matter to the FA – Sweep it under the carpet and hope it goes away.

What I’m asking for is consistency; another example is Luis Suarez and John Terry. The forward from Uruguay basically admitted saying racist words and was given an eight game ban; John Terry denied the charge and was found guilty and got a four game ban. Again what are the FA playing at?

I think it’s about time the governing body of English football got its house in order; every player I’ve mentioned has broken the rules and yet all four have been dealt with differently.

Of course every case is different but surely we need to know both as fans and players what the punishments are.

Now if the referee missed the incident with Fellaini then he can’t be sent off; the official has to see it, no TV replays are allowed. But he’s got a ban because of TV! Oh yeah that good old thing called consistency again!
