Tottenham Hotspur player Juan Foyth has admitted that his ‘dream’ is to stay in Europe amid speculation suggesting a move to Leeds United is on the cards, speaking to TYC Sports.

While the north London giants have been about as watertight as a sieve since Jose Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino in November, the £9 million Argentina international has still found himself on the outside looking in.

Foyth managed just one start in 67 minutes of Premier League football in 2019/20, falling out of favour despite the erratic form of Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen.

As a result, the 22-year-old is expected to leave Tottenham either on loan or on a permanent basis this summer, having become the latest in a long line of Albiceleste stars who have been linked with a move to Marcelo Biela’s Leeds (TYC).

The West Yorkshire giants are under pressure to replace the seemingly irreplaceable Ben White at Elland Road.

And, while Foyth is far from the finished product, his technical skills and an ability to outjump even the most rangy of strikers suggests he could be the man for the job.

“My agents told me nothing of Boca’s interest, but I told them that my first option is to stay in Europe,” says the former Estudiantes youngster, who has no interest in returning to South America any time soon.

“I don’t think about going back to Argentina. Right now, it is best to stay in Europe. It is what I want and what the club (Tottenham) will surely look for, either with a sale or a loan.

“For my future and because the dream of every player is to be in Europe, the best thing is to stay here and seek continuity.”

Since the enigmatic Bielsa shuffled into the Elland Road dugout two years ago, the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Jack Harrison, Ben White and Luke Ayling have undergone a footballing ‘glow-up’, transforming into players of undoubted Premier League quality.

So if Spurs are still hoping that Foyth will come good in the Premier League, enrolling him in an intensive education course via a loan spell at Leeds would not be the worst idea.
