Brighton & Hove Albion have successfully triggered a lot of Arsenal fans on Twitter.

On Friday, the Gunners announced that they had signed Ben White in a £50 million deal from the Seagulls.

This had developed into something of a saga and there were more than a few eyebrows raised over the fact that Arsenal were paying such a premium for somebody with only 36 Premier League games under his belt.

After the deal was complete, a Brighton fan quipped that White would be playing with lesser defenders in North London, in comparison to his former teammates at The Amex Stadium.

And the club’s Twitter admin cheekily responded with a gif of Thierry Henry – an Arsenal icon no less – laughing.

The reaction

And here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to Albion’s social media move:

Serious?

No this is all just a bit of fun.

The truth is that White was a brilliant player for Brighton and Arsenal is clearly a massive step up for the former Leeds United loanee.

Yes, Mikel Arteta could only muster an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last term, but the Gunners are a huge club across every metric and getting bent out of shape over typical social media banter is all a bit silly, it has to be said.
