The derby own goal Vincent Kompany can’t remember

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has wisely blocked an unfortunate event out of his mind.

Prior to the Manchester derby kicking off at the Etihad, Belgian international Vincent Kompany took part in a brief if amusing interview on SkySports.

It was put to him that anything can happen in the match-ups between the two teams, and he should know better than anybody.

Kompany has scored a winner, received a red card, and netted an own goal in the matches in previous matches between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Not that he can remember the latter, asking the interview if he had really scored an own goal because he couldn’t remember it.

Being of a curious nature we decided to dig out the footage of Kompany’s own goal, just to see why he may have blocked it out of his mind.

It was just earlier this year in City’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford, with Phil Jones heading the ball against Kompany’s body which diverted into the net.

City went onto win the game, and it’s easy to see why Kompany forgot it ever happened.
