Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the possibility that Scott Carson could start for Manchester City on Saturday.

The fall-out from a quite crazy international break continues amid claims that clubs like Liverpool and Man City could be threatened with sanctions if they play their Brazilian stars, as reported by BBC Sport.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Ederson, to name a few, weren’t released for national duty last week.

And now the powers that be in Brazil want punishments and it could see both teams be forced to omit their Brazilian players from their matchday squads for these upcoming weekend matches.

If that’s the case, then Ederson won’t be available for Man City, nor will Zack Steffen because he tested positive for COVID over the international break.

So, that means ex-Liverpool man and high-flying 36-year-old, Scott Carson, could start for Man City against Leicester.

Liverpool fans have offered a mixed reaction to the news, as some can’t wait for a Carson and Adrian masterclass.

If those at the Etihad can’t play Ederson, then Alisson will also have to sit out for the Reds – they face-off against Leeds United on Sunday, who have their own Brazilian whizkid in Raphinha hoping to be able to play.

Whilst Pep Guardiola may have to play one of the oldest players in the Premier League against the Foxes.

The reasoning for them spending nearly £1bn has all come to fruition now, hasn’t it!?

Nonetheless, Guardiola’s managerial counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, might have to resort to playing 22-year-old, Caoimhin Kelleher.

The key thing here is that the Irishman thrived in Liverpool colours last season.

But it’s going to be interesting to see how Carson will fair if handed the chance because he did feature once last season, during his side’s 4-3 win at Newcastle.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to the possibility of Carson starting for the Premier League champions against the FA Cup holders:
