It’s been an injury-hit season for Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are just some of the names to suffer lengthy spell on the sidelines so far.

In fact, Henderson, the Liverpool captain, will miss the next month-and-a-half due to a groin injury after surgery was confirmed earlier today.

But another player on the club’s books is injured now too.

Takumi Minamino, a £7 million signing a little over a year ago, has been a revelation since joining Southampton on loan from Liverpool during the January transfer window, scoring two goals – including one against Chelsea.

But a hamstring injury will keep him out of Monday’s trip to the old enemy Everton, as confirmed by Saints boss Ralph Hassenhuttl.

Here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to that injury blow:

Given that Everton are Liverpool’s bitter Merseyside rivals, those at Anfield would’ve been looking forward to seeing how their loanee did against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but it won’t happen now.
