We take a closer look at a Leeds United player their fans know little about even now.

The onset of social media means that when a football club signs a new player the news is usually doing the rounds on Twitter within minutes of a deal being struck, but when it comes to Leeds United’s Amadou Haidara Whites fans have been left wondering exactly what is going on.
Back in September 2016, the 22-year-old French defender – not to be confused with the Mali player of the same name who currently plays for Austrian side FC Liefering – posted a message on his Instagram page suggesting he had signed for Leeds.
The only problem was, the club itself kept ominously quiet.
Was it a trial, a loan deal or a permanent move? No one knew. But fast-forward six months and Haidara is still at the club, and still turning out for the under-23 side.
His latest appearance came this week, when he started for Leeds’ second string against their Birmingham City counterparts, and while there is no doubting he is permanent member of their squad, his signing is no less baffling.
Perhaps in time Haidara will prove his worth and make his breakthrough into Leeds’ first-team, but given that he has been a substitute more often than not for the under-23s, that prospect seems slim at best.
