According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez wants to join a club who will play in the Champions League next season, and this is a blow for Leeds United.
The report in the Spanish news outlet has referenced links in The Mirror with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
It has then added that the 27-year-old winger wants to join a club who will play in the Champions League in 2021-22.
This reported condition means that Leeds are very likely to miss out on the signing of the Spain international, who can also operate as a right-back.
Deportes Cuatro reported in February interest in Vazquez from Marcelo Biesla’s Leeds.
Blow for Leeds United
Leeds are doing very well in the Premier League and could end up in the top half of the standings.
However, barring a miracle, the West Yorkshire club are not going to finish in the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.
Vasquez is out of contract at Madrid at the end of the season and would be a brilliant signing on a free transfer for any club.
Having played in the Champions League throughout his career and winning the competition thrice, one can understand why he reportedly wants to play in it next season at his new club as well.
