Sean Dyche has shared that Leeds United played with an ‘edge’ that Burnley are still trying to find, as he told BBC Sport.

The Burnley boss added that Leeds ‘kept pushing, trying and stretching the pitch’ during their relegation encounter at Elland Road.

Even though Burnley pegged the Whites back with Maxwell Cornet’s brilliant free-kick, Stuart Dallas then resorted his side’s lead before Dan James added the cherry on the cake in stoppage-time.

It was a morale-boosting win for those in Yorkshire, but a morale-sapping one for those in Lancashire and their bid to survive.

Nonetheless, even though his team were second-best yesterday, Dyche still found time to praise the opposition and the manner in which they played.

“We started really brightly,” said Dyche. “We started on the front foot, but the game started to turn as Leeds started getting after it and pressing better.

“We went a little bit on the back foot and they scored. We lost our way a little bit.

“Credit to them, they kept pushing, trying, stretching the pitch. The biggest summary I can give you is that they played with an edge that we’re still trying to find.”

Even though Burnley have a number of games in hand, Leeds were still able to open up a gap on their relegation rivals yesterday.

Leeds are now eight points clear of the Clarets, who occupy the final relegation spot, but they have two games in hand.

Burnley are also two points behind Watford, but they have one game in hand on them.

But still, you would probably prefer the points on the board rather than the games in hand because it provides a different psychological edge.
