Kaveh Solhekol told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (26/01/21 at 6:50 pm) that ‘somebody involved’ in the Jesse Lingard deal to West Ham has told him that Manchester United are asking for ‘the biggest’ loan fee they have ever known.

The Sky journalist shared that Lingard’s potential loan move from Old Trafford to West Ham is currently ‘miles and miles away’.

Whilst West Ham fans wake up with a big smile on their face because they are sitting in the Champions League places, they won’t be too pleased with the latest Lingard update.

The West Ham faithful don’t exactly have a strong relationship with those in the boardroom and it’s perhaps the one worry the fans have in their dream to secure a European place this season.

Nonetheless, Sky journalist, Solhekol issued this transfer update regarding the potential Lingard deal.

“Somebody involved in the deal has been watching and listening to you [to his colleague Dharmesh Sheth talking about Lingard to West Ham],” said Solhekol.

“And he has messaged in to say that Manchester United, according to him, are ‘asking for a fortune’ when it comes to the loan fee for Jesse Lingard.

“He says ‘the loan fee they are asking for is the biggest I have ever known in the game’. And this is somebody who has been working in football for about 20 or 30 years.

“And he says ‘the deal, at the moment, is miles and miles away’.”

Squad depth is the name of the game at the London Stadium for this window because the current starting XI are doing bits.

A striker is an obvious target needed, but bringing in Lingard will help elevate David Moyes’ squad because they will have an experienced international, who has delivered in big games during his career, on their books.

But, at this moment in time, nothing seems to be getting done, which will frustrate the jubilant West Ham fans after that win against Crystal Palace last night.
