Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Tony Adams has been discussing Bukayo Saka after his remarkable start to this season.
The English winger has been Arsenal’s star player as they’ve risen to the top of the Premier League table, and Adams has been in awe of this young star.
The Gunners legend has gone big with his praise of Saka. He’s labelled him as England’s best player, and stated that he’s every bit as good as Lionel Messi right now.

Saka as good as Messi
Adams hailed the Arsenal star.
“I think player of the season is Saka. The kid is just phenomenal. I had a bit of a go at Gareth during the World Cup for taking him off. He’s every bit as good as Messi, Messi is obviously at the end of his career,” Adams said.
“Even when you question him and he missed his penalty at the Euros and he’s come back. Every time I see him he makes goals and scores goals. He’s a phenomenal footballer, the best player for England and the best player for the Arsenal.”
Getting there
Of course, to say that Saka is as good as Lionel Messi is hyperbolic, but he’s certainly getting up there in terms of being one of the best players in world football.
Arsenal are flying at the moment, and that’s down to Saka, while he more than held his own against some of the best players on the planet in Qatar during the World Cup.
The fact that Saka isn’t playing Champions League football this season won’t help his case, but if he keeps up the form he showed towards the back end of 2022, there’s no reason he can’t make the top 10 of the Ballon d’Or rankings this year.
