Leeds United fans have appreciated Jurgen Klopp’s comments ahead of their showdown with Liverpool tonight.

When Liverpool locked horns with Leeds on the opening day of the season, their entertaining 4-3 clash was the standout act of the weekend.

Well, with the proposed European Super League grabbing the headlines on Sunday evening, even a 5-5 draw tonight will be overshadowed by events that have rocked world football.

Nonetheless, ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Yorkshire, Klopp was full of praise for the manner in which Leeds play, as he told his press conference.

“Man City played against the ten men of Leeds and that’s not usually the way Leeds play,” said Klopp.

“It was an early red card. Early 1-0 lead. Leeds played an exceptional game from a passion point of view – you see the character of the team that is, of course, exceptional.

“They never gave up. They fought as hard as they could. They worked their socks off. And they still, with ten men, counter-attacked.

“A lot of teams don’t even have counter-attacks against City with 11 men, but they had it with ten. It was really exciting to see what’s possible in football.”

Understandably, Leeds fans are loving Klopp’s praise of their team, as some are expecting another gung-ho encounter.

On any day, Leeds play like a team who have a free hit, so when they are literally in that situation then their 100 miles per hour-like methods are going to be pretty difficult to deal with.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are safe for another season and will be pushing to cement a top ten finish.

But Liverpool, who were knocked out of the Champions League in midweek, are chasing those top-four places.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to Klopp’s comments:
