Paul Merson has made it clear that he doesn’t give Manchester United ‘one bit of a chance’ against Liverpool at Anfield, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (18/04/22 at 2:30 pm).
Whilst Liverpool are riding the possible quadruple wave this season, those at Old Trafford are staring at another trophyless campaign.
The gap in quality between the two sides is currently 19 points in the Premier League table – and will only probably grow as the season comes to an end.
Jurgen Klopp watched his side dismantle Man United at Old Trafford during the reverse fixture, so there will be a fear that the same could happen again.
Ahead of that fixture, Merson isn’t giving Man United a chance of getting a result and thinks a goalless draw would be the ‘best result of the season’ for Man United.
“Manchester United are going to Liverpool, in my opinion, I don’t give them one bit of a chance,” said Merson.
“I don’t even give them 1% of a chance – they are going to Liverpool and if they drew 0-0, it would be the best result of the season.”

Given the gulf in quality between the two teams, on paper, it seems like Liverpool are going to blow Man United away.
But given the pressure that is on this game, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there is a goal in it between both teams to settle the match.
Even if Man United turn it up at Anfield, surely their defence won’t be able to cope with what Liverpool’s forward line will throw at them.
But, either way, with Manchester City due to play Brighton on Wednesday night, this also gives the Merseyside giants the chance to move to the top of the table and put that pressure on their rivals.
