Leeds United have announced that both Gaetano Berardi and Pablo Hernandez will be leaving the club this summer, and Pontus Jansson has reacted on Instagram.
The Swedish centre-back of course played with Berardi and Hernandez at Leeds dating back to the days under Garry Monk, and they of course formed a strong bond.
Jansson has previously named Berardi as his best friend in football, while on Instragram he’s said that Hernandez is the best player he’s ever played with.
Jansson clearly still has a huge affinity for Leeds United.
His departure from Elland Road may have been a little acrimonious, but the centre-half seems to still have fond memories from his days in Yorkshire.
Hernandez, Berardi and Jansson are a trio that define an era at Leeds. Those three really carried the club on their back during the Garry Monk, Thomas Christensen and Paul Heckingbottom era.
Yes, Marcelo Bielsa and his current crop deserve all the praise in the world for getting Leeds where they are today, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that the likes of Berardi, Jansson and Hernandez played a massive part in the Whites’ evolution.
Who knows? Maybe Jansson will link up with one of Berardi or Hernandez at their next club.
