Newcastle United made it three wins out of three in all competitions last night, as they beat Manchester City 2-0 in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.
The Magpies went into the game as heavy underdogs after naming a second-string line-up to face a strong City side but thoroughly deserved their victory.
Youngster Rolando Aarons fired the side into the lead and they never looked back. City struggled to gain a foothold in the game and Moussa Sissoko’s second-half strike was reward for Alan Pardew’s men’s excellent performance.
It was Newcastle’s third victory in a row and they will be looking to continue to build on their current momentum.
The Magpies’ season looked to be heading for a trainwreck but this was one of their finest wins in recent memory and the hope is that they may finally be able to end their wait for a trophy, which has lasted since 1969.
