Andy Cole has stated that Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat at Manchester United on Saturday was the best he has seen from them at Old Trafford for a while, as he told MatchDay Extra on PL Productions (12/03/22 at 8:15 pm).
The former Manchester United striker added that Spurs were ‘unlucky’ and they moved the ball ‘pretty quickly’ yesterday.
Whilst many won’t agree with the latter, perhaps their best performance at Old Trafford in a while is a bit of an overstretch and a surprising comment, especially in defeat.
At the end of the day, they did thrash Man United 6-1 in their own backyard just last season, when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
Whilst they were denied by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick masterclass, they will still question how they didn’t keep their opponents at bay when they kept on equalising.
This is what Cole made of Tottenham’s display, despite walking away empty-handed from Manchester.
“To be fair this is the best I have seen Tottenham play at Old Trafford for a while,” said Cole.
“They moved the ball pretty well and they were probably unlucky.”
For Tottenham, they move on from this game and hope they can still secure Champions League football at the end of the campaign.
Their rivals are running away with it and they have two more London affairs that could just end it all for them.
Spurs play West Ham United next Sunday, whilst the north London derby against Arsenal is still to be rescheduled.
In truth, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the broadcasters are trying to be clever on that front because the later that game is played, the more dramatic it becomes.
