Tottenham Hotspur are facing having to make a big decision over Moussa Dembele this summer.

The Belgian is attracting transfer interest from clubs in Italy and China and he has just one year remaining on his contract.

Dembele’s agent has told Belgian outlet Voetball Nieuws earlier this month that he has no intention of penning a new deal at the moment.

This leaves Spurs facing a choice. Sell him, or keep him and risk losing him on a free next summer.

As much as it will pain chairman Daniel Levy, letting Dembele walk on a free in 2019 is the better choice.

Getting a fee for Dembele could be useful, but he is 30-years-old and has just one year left. How much could Tottenham really get for him.

Up to £20 million perhaps, and that is hardly here nor there when it comes to buying a replacement.

At present there is no standout candidate to replace Dembele.

Whoever Tottenham sign would be a gamble.

Next season they are better off keeping Dembele, and using his experience on and off the pitch.

He is a player who manager Mauricio Pochettino trusts greatly, and if Spurs do sign a potential successor, why not let him learn from Dembele first hand?

Dembele can still play, that’s for sure. He is in the Belgium squad for a reason, and his Champions League display against Juventus in Turin was truly memorable.

That was just three months ago, and truly, Tottenham are better off next season with Dembele in the squad than without him.

Daniel Levy may hate the prospect of letting him go on a free in 2019, but he should make an exception.

Surely for a small fee, its better to have a superior team playing at their brand new stadium next season?
