Alan Shearer has raved about Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante on MOTD Top 10 and has said that the reported Liverpool target is “an unbelievable player”.
The Newcastle United legend made the comments about Chelsea and France international midfielder Kante, who has been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, while discussing the best midfielders to have ever played in the Premier League.
The former Leicester City star is out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the season.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke in GiveMeSport, Liverpool are interested in signing the 31-year-old on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
The reporter has said that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winers are hoping to persuade the defensive midfielder to make the switch to Anfield.
However, there is speculation that Kante will put pen to paper on a new deal with Chelsea.
Kante has had injury problems this season, but when fit, the Frenchman is one of the best defensive midfielders on the planet.
The 31-year-old won the Premier League title with Leicester in 2015-16 and then again with Chelsea in 2016-17.
Kante has also won the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League once each with Chelsea.
The midfielder was part of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup.

Shearer said about Kante: “I don’t think I have seen anyone cover as much grass as him in terms of the work rate that he put in. I know he is getting on a bit now, he has had a few injuries, but just an unbelievable player in terms of protecting, winning the ball back, giving it. I think he was the best at doing that.”
