Speaking to Off The Ball, The Sun’s Martin Lipton has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial situation and who could replace Antonio Conte.
Lipton is led to believe that Conte will leave the north London club at the end of the season due to personal reasons, and he is also quietly confident that Mauricio Pochettino will be invited back to the club if that happens.
Indeed, Lipton brought Pochettino’s name up before he was even asked who the next Spurs manager would be, stating that Pochettino’s return could be on the cards if Conte leaves in the summer.

Pochettino return possible
Lipton shared what he knows about this situation.
“I know what you’re going to ask me next and the answer is Mauricio Pochettino returning in the summer. I think it’s almost that if Conte goes Pochettino will be invited back in,” Lipton said.
Never go back?
The famous saying in football is ‘never go back’, but Spurs could go against that advice and bring Pochettino back.
To be honest, it’s probably not the worst idea in the world. Pochettino does have unfinished business in north London and after a few months out of the game, he should be refreshed and ready to go again.
Of course, the question is whether or not Pochettino will still be available by the time Conte leaves.
The Italian’s most likely departure point is at the end of the season, and if that is the case, there’s every chance that Pochettino could be snapped up by then.
The Argentine is one of the most in-demand managers in the world right now, and one has to imagine that he’ll be approached by at least one club between now and the summer.
One thing is for sure, Pochettino is a manager to keep an eye on if Conte does eventually leave Spurs.
