The 2025 season wrapped up with four Americans ranked inside the WTA top 10, reflecting the growing strength of women’s tennis in the US.
Coco Gauff and Madison Keys led the way with Grand Slam titles in Paris and Melbourne, while Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova also put together strong campaigns.
Looking deeper into the rankings, there are 10 Americans in the top 50 and 16 in the top 100, underscoring how much depth there is throughout the country. Among them is Caty McNally, who quietly put together an outstanding season on tour.

Caty McNally climbs more than 700 spots in a year
At the end of the 2024 WTA Tour season, Caty McNally was ranked 817th in the world.
McNally, who has won eight doubles titles on the WTA Tour, had previously been a top-100 player before that drop. She suffered an elbow injury during the 2023 US Open, which eventually led to surgery.
The procedure took place after her appearance at the Puerto Vallarta Open in March 2024 and kept her out of action until November that year. By then, she’d dropped to number 817 in the world.
She put together a string of wins to climb back up. By the end of 2024, she’d improved her ranking to 540.
In 2025, McNally has made significant progress up the rankings. Wins at Indian Wells and Wimbledon played a part, as did securing her second WTA 125 title at the Hall of Fame Open.
A week later, she picked up another title by winning the W100 event in Evansville. That victory moved her up to number 116 on the rankings.
She went on to reach the second round in Cincinnati and New York before making her first quarter-final appearance since 2023 at Guangzhou. That run took her into world number 81.
Biggest movers inside the WTA Top 100 over the past year
McNally ranks second among the top 100 players who have risen most in the rankings over the past year.
Belinda Bencic leads that group, jumping an impressive 902 places. Indonesian player Janice Tjen is third, climbing 525 spots in the past year.
Victoria Mboko is also on the list. The 19-year-old Canadian Open champion has moved up 332 places over that period.
Iva Jovic and Tereza Valentova are other young names worth noting. Alexandra Eala also makes an appearance.
Eala, who recently hit with Rafael Nadal, has climbed 108 ranking spots since November 2024.
